Bus Nurse (RN/LPN) – Part-Time
Location: Mobile, Alabama
Schedule: Morning and Afternoon Bus Routes
Job Overview
DMD Nursing Staffing is looking for caring and dependable Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to help students with medical needs while they ride the school bus to and from school in Mobile, Alabama.
The Bus Nurse will ride the bus during morning and afternoon routes to make sure students stay safe, comfortable, and medically stable during transportation.
Job Responsibilities
Ride the school bus during morning pickup and afternoon drop-off routes
Provide nursing care and monitor students during transportation
Respond to medical issues or emergencies if they happen on the bus
Follow each student’s healthcare plan and doctor’s instructions
Communicate with parents, school staff, and transportation workers as needed
Complete nursing notes and incident reports accurately
Follow all safety and health procedures during transportation
Skills and Experience Needed
Nurses should be comfortable with the following care needs:
Tracheostomy care and suctioning
Seizure monitoring and safety care
Diabetes care, including blood sugar checks and insulin support
G-tube and feeding tube care
Giving medications
Toileting assistance, including diaper changes if needed
Emergency care and CPR/BLS response
Qualifications
Active RN or LPN license in Alabama
Current CPR/BLS certification
Experience with children or medically fragile patients is preferred
Good communication and observation skills
Ability to stay calm during emergencies
Work Schedule
Part-time position
Morning and afternoon school bus routes
Schedule follows school transportation times
